Proper Feeding

Rabbits need to be provided fresh clean water everyday. Dwarfs should have unlimited pellets until they are 6-months of age. Once they’ve reached adult status, food should be measured to 1/4 cup per day. I know how hard it is to limit food and treats, but just like with humans, being overweight will shorten their lives and cause unnecessary medical issues. Hay is an important staple in the diet of your bunny and should be given daily. We recommend and use Oxbow Timothy that can be purchased online or your closest pet supply store. The benefits of hay are more than just dietary! It helps keep their teeth at the correct levels, balances their sensitive digestive system & gives them something to do! We have a bunny that sorts his hay by the pieces he likes and doesn’t. It’s quite comical to watch!

It’s important to note that our rabbits DO NOT USE WATER BOTTLES. That doesn’t mean that they won’t, but you’ll need to offer a bowl until you’re confident that they are drinking from the bottle comfortably. We are currently feeding ManaPro Show that can be purchased at Tractor Supply Co. or online. There are many great feeds out there and can be purchased at a pet supply store. We recommend using Oxbow. Avoid any feeds that have treats, seeds, fruits or veggies added to the pellets! Pellets offer a complete daily diet. Nuts, fruits & berries can harm your rabbit. The Fiesta food below looks like fun, but it’s not nutritional for your rabbit.
